HEALTHY FIGURES: Swan HIll District Health above state average in treating patients

SWAN Hill District Health is treating more patients, but performing above state
averages, according to data released this week.

Despite a rise in the number
of presentations to emergency departments around the state, Swan Hill District
Health maintained a steady performance in the June quarter.

A record number
of patients were treated in Victorian hospitals between April and June 2013,
with the average time to be treated in an emergency department improving to 19
minutes across the state.

According to the latest Victorian Health Services
Performance data, analysing the three months leading up to June 2013, Swan Hill
District Health was performing above the state average in all areas.

SHDH CEO
Ted Rayment said the “staff had done a fantastic job in achieving these
results”.

“We are always trying to improve and it can be a challenge because
you don’t know who is going to come through the doors,” Mr Rayment said.

A
total of 1895 patients were admitted to the hospital — an increase of 37
patients from the previous quarter.

More than 3300 patients presented
themselves to the emergency department (ED) during this time, and patients spent
a cumulative 3800 days in beds at the hospital.
