Senior achiever

THE efforts and dedication of a Swan Hill resident in helping asylum seekers settle into the community has been recognised by the Victorian Government.

Jill Pattenden, 76, has been a volunteer at the Uniting Church Community Group for more than 10 years.

Her role as convener recently saw her receive the Promotion of Multiculturalism Award as part of the 2013 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards.

Ms Pattenden and 14 other seniors accepted awards from Minister for Ageing David Davis at Government House last week.
