THERE was no predicting the outcome of the 15 and under grand final between Tyntynder and Woorinen on Saturday.
After a win against Tyntynder in the first final, Woorinen went into the match with an element of confidence later crushed by their ultimately superior rivals.
Tyntynder coach Michelle Haeusler said her team had had a great season and felt confident from the outset.
“The girls put pressure on the whole game,” Haeusler said.
“They knew they could win and kept going the whole time.”
That said, it was a tense showdown for both sides.
“Netball’s a funny game — you can never relax,” Haeusler said.
“You try and analyse a game afterwards and you try and pick out your faults, your strengths, looking back I’d say our defence was just brilliant.”
The Tyntynder coach also made mention of a few key players on court.
“Having said that, the movement of Kelsey Rowe and the stronghold of Zoe Spence-Benfield under the goal rings was brilliant.”
With Woorinen ahead at quarter time, Tyntynder had to play to these strengths to gain a three point lead by half time.
“We really built it up each quarter,” Haeusler said.
Elvie Kelly-Britten was named best on court, while centre Laura Anderson won the best player award for the club.
The 15 and under reserves went the way of Kerang, with the Blues defeating Cohuna Kangas by nine goals.
Lauren Adams was Kerang’s best player.
The result was less pleasing for Kerang in the 13 and under grade, with Lake Boga celebrating a 12 goal win over the Blues.
With Carli Taylor being best on court for the winners, Boga won 37 to 25.
