A PREPARED and persistent Castlemaine outfit were too much on Sunday for Swan Hill’s division two team which was defeated 4-1 at home.
In their previous encounter Swan Hill’s division two men had beaten Castlemaine 4-2, with a brace going to Mark O’Hare.
But with O’Hare away in the first round of the Knockout Cup, the southerners were out for revenge and arrived a day early to prepare.
In searing 28-degree sunshine the Swans started strong and got their first chance with a great throw from defender Anthony Lewin going in front of goals with striker Nemut Alizada in a scrimmage getting around the keeper, but unluckily shooting into the side of the net.
Castlemaine’s forwards used their superior pace, with shots going close or hitting the woodwork early on.
Swan Hill were showing their best football in short stretches, but couldn’t link up in attack where it counted.
Brock Baldwin provided a pinpoint curling corner kick, that hit the crossbar and was forced out.
