Church Notes, September 13

Anglican Church

REJOICE! In Bendigo tomorrow morning, five people will be ordained as deacons or priests. Please pray for them and all who support them, including Rev Denis and Rev Julie, who will each travel down Friday. Ultima’s monthly service has hence been postponed for a week.

Last Sunday, Mothers’ Union conducted its formal welcome to a member transferring from another branch, who just happens to be Rev. Julie. MU worldwide upholds and supports families in their many guises.

The 10.30am Thursday men’s coffee group at one28 Doors has become well established and is open to all men to meet and chat.

Last week the op-shop volunteers rid the shop of winter things and began filling it with summery clothing, which was in time for the burst of hot weather. Come out and be an early bird for summer shopping with great service, great prices, and a great range of goods.

No more Op Shop donations until October as we have more than we can manage. Please donate only things in good wearable or working order. Disposal of torn, dirty, worn and broken items is costly to op shops.

Grain Shed news

SCHOOL holidays are approaching and with them the local and national footy and netball finals. For all team members, give it your best on the day and have no regrets.

Last Sunday we had a special guest speaker, Pastor Don Gall, who spoke about “the three-step plan”. “Then he said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me’.” Luke 9:23

Jesus is our perfect model. He is not asking something of us that he has not already done or been willing to give himself. For those who missed this message or would like to listen to it again or other messages, go to www.thegrainshed.churchcenter.com/home and click on sermons.

This Sunday at 10am our doors are wide open for all. Pastor Shayne is back and will have a message not to be missed. For our Grain Shed Kids, the check- in desk is open from 9.45am and all the team are eagerly waiting to see you.

On Sunday, September 22, we will hold a baptism service. If it has been on your heart to be baptised, call 5032 9449 and Pastor Shayne or Emily would love to have a chat with you about it.

The Grain Shed is the pick-up and drop off point for this year’s Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child Appeal. Shoeboxes can be found with information in the foyer. Fill a box and bring joy to a child overseas.
