League carnival a success

THE Central Murray Football Netball League hosted its junior football carnival in Swan Hill on Sunday.

The carnival had three divisions under 12, under 13 and under 14 with teams participating from the Goulburn Campaspe Junior Football League, the Sunraysia Junior Football League, the Mallee Football League and of course the Central Murray Football Netball League (CMFNL).

Games commenced at 9.30am and ran continuously throughout the day on both the Swan Hill Showgrounds and across the road at the Alan Garden Memorial Reserve.

CMFNL manager Scott Wishart said the carnival was a great opportunity for junior footballers to show their skills on a big stage, in front of what was a great crowd.

“The CMFNL would like to thank all clubs who do a great job volunteering on the day to assist with the running of the carnival,” he said.

“Without the assistance of our clubs the carnival would not be able to take place and our junior footballers would miss out on this great opportunity.”

The under 12s team was very competitive with Cohuna’s Riley Hird his side’s best. He was well supported by Nyah Nyah West’s Lucas Caccaviello, Kerang’s Sam Radcliffe, Balranald’s Logan Fitzgerald and Koondrook Barham’s Jack Shannon.

The under 13s also had tough opposition on the day but battled well in both games.

Cohuna’s Jack Donat won the best player award in what was a great team effort.

The under 14s team won their division which was a great result against good opposition.

Swan Hill’s Paddy Dow won the best player award.

Other good performers came by Koondrook Barham’s Jack Thomas, United’s Brent Daniels, Mallee Eagles’ Brady Fordham and Woorinen’s Jose Miliado.
