THE Swan Hill Anglican Church is in need of a new minister.
The church has
had difficulty filling the role in a permanent capacity, following the departure
of Reverend Graham Snell 18 months ago.Meanwhile, the latest locum, Father
Graeme Kaines is leaving on Sunday for his home in Adelaide, after a two month
stay in the district.
Father Kaines said a permanent minister was essential
for building a strong parish.
“It gives the parish stability and I think the
leadership of a minister also sharpens the direction the parish has.”
I think
the lay leadership is very vibrant considering [the church has] been without a
minister for 18 months.
“All the same, a permanent minister would make all
the difference.”
Reverend Snell left Swan Hill for the Colac Parish after
four years in Swan Hill and a longer association with the Mallee.
Mr Kaines
said ministers like Reverend Snell were becoming increasingly hard to find.
