MALLEE Eagles will be gunning for its second win of the season when it hosts Lake Boga tomorrow.
Both sides are coming off losses last week, although Mallee Eagles could probably find some positives in the game at Riverside Park.
Eagles co-coach Jamie Macri would have been pleased with his side’s first half, with the Eagles doing well to lead the Blues by three points at the main break.
For Boga, the round three loss to Tooleybuc Manangatang at Lake Boga would have been somewhat disappointing.
Tomorrow the Magpies will be without West Pye with a couple of others likely to be assessed before the game.
“Apart from those guys we should be pretty much all on song, though,” Boga coach Liam Richmond said yesterday.
It’s been a topsy-turvy first three weeks of the season for Boga, which probably should have won its opening home game against Tyntynder in round one.
Richmond said the games particularly, the ones against Tyntynder and Tooleybuc Manangatang, had been physically draining for the Pies.
“We need to take our opportunities when we can, we’re getting enough of the ball but not utilising it,” he said.
Mallee Eagles co-coach Jamie Macri said the Eagles would likely have a few players returning to the side.
With Bendigo Gold having the bye, Ricky Thomson is likely to play, while Jake Mills, Andrew Gill and Jordan Bett are also possible inclusions.
“It’s a very important game so hopefully we’ll get a few players back which would strengthen us,” he said.
While Kerang’s class “got a hold of ((the Eagles)) in the end”, Macri said his side could take some confidence out of the match.
“It does. We just have got to keep getting better and keep on improving,” he said.
