Very good Friday

LOCALS have dug deep for this year’s Good Friday Appeal, raising more than $35,000 to help continue the vital work of the Royal Children’s Hospital.

The official tally board on Good Friday steadily rose to finish above $17,000 for Swan Hill, with Robinvale ending up just shy of the $10,000 mark.

Reaching such an impressive target was no mean feat, with charity tins rattling across the Swan Hill region thanks to the efforts of hard-working volunteers.

Nyah/Nyah West CFA captain Brian Lewis and his brigade lined the Murray Valley Highway to help raise the funds.

“It’s an important appeal, because no matter who you talk to someone has had a child who has been in the Royal Children’s Hospital,” he said.

“And that is the case far and wide.”

Mr Lewis said he was extremely pleased with this year’s result.

“The appeal turned out really well,” he said.

“We thank everyone for their donations — without donations there is nothing.”
