Tooleybuc, Nyah grand final

TOOLEYBUC Manangatang and Nyah District will meet in this year’s Swan Hill
District Cricket Association A grade grand final.

Both teams survived
semi-finals last week and head to Alan Garden Reserve this weekend for chance at
a premiership.

Tooleybuc Manangatang finished the year fourth on the ladder,
and came up against Swan Hill in their semi-final at Swan Hill
Showgrounds.

Tooleybuc managed a very competitive total of 227 on Saturday,
and on Sunday Swan Hill was left with an intimidating run chase.

Kane
Griffiths top-scored for the home side with 80 runs, boosting his side towards
200.

The Swan Hill tail enders put in a great last-ditch effort, with number
nine Jonathan Hirst’s 31 making victory seem very possible.

But the Tooleybuc
bowlers were too good, especially Leigh Kentish (6/70) who put in a mammoth
30-over effort.

In the 79th over, Swan Hill needed just 10 runs to
win.

Over about 30 minutes, Swan Hill bowling specialists Jordan Griffiths
and Bradley Cockfield managed eight runs, before Kentish bowled out Griffiths
and it was all over.

Meanwhile, at Nyah Recreation Reserve, Nyah had began
their run chase after RSL posted 198 runs on Saturday.

Nyah openers Shane
Fleming and captain Jason Morrison posted 38 without trouble, before Morrison
(22) was caught off a Duane Bruton bowl.

Nyah’s Ritchie Boulton and Fleming
fell shortly after to Craig Fletcher, then Kent Wooding stepped up to the
crease.

Hitting eight fours and four sixes, Wooding top scored with 106 runs,
boosting his side to victory in 66 overs and with six wickets to spare.

Both
Tooleybuc Manangatang and Nyah District will play their grand final at Alan
Garden Reserve, Swan Hill, this weekend from 1pm Saturday.
