Woorinen celebrates final win

WOORINEN celebrated its first win in the Swan Hill District Cricket Association’s Kookaburra Cup final on Sunday.

Taking to the field first, the Tigers were keen to restrict RSL’s scoring as much as possible but a strong start from RSL appeared to put it in the box seat.

Brenton Caldwell was in form at the top of the order, while Paul Munro managed a few runs for RSL.

TJ Beasy was strong with the ball for Woorinen, while Guri Singh bowled well early and Jake Schmidt was important.

The trio helped restrict RSL to 157, giving Woorinen a genuine chance in the run chase.

Woorinen captain Glenn Violi said it was a “fair run chase”.

“The wicket was really good and so was the outfield.”
