SIXTEEN-year-old Jessika Nott put three years worth of her long
wavy hair in the post this week for a charitable cause.
Beautiful hair is
something teenage girls prize but Jessika has sacrificed hers to make a wig for
women with cancer.
She said her long hair came off on Tuesday after watching
a television story about women who benefitted from the charity.
While she
doesn’t know anyone with cancer, the St Mary MacKillop College student said she
hoped her hair would cheer someone up.
“I just wanted to make someone else
feel special,” Jessika said.
She also went the extra mile contributing 30cm
of hair rather than the minimum of 20cm.
“It will grow back,” she said.
Her mum Kerryn Nott said she was thrilled by her daughter’s
decision.
“Her family and friends are very proud of her for thinking of
others less fortunate and sacrificing her beautiful locks to make someone else
happy,” she said.
