Making a splash

SWAN Hill’s Big4 holiday park is set to make a splash today with
the official opening of their new water park.

While the temperature is tipped
to reach a mild 22 degrees, Big4 owner Dianne O’Bryan said it wouldn’t be a
problem for the students from Swan Hill Primary School lined up to test the new
equipment.

The solar heated water supply could warm things up a bit,
depending on sunshine.

“Kids go in regardless don’t they,” she
laughed.

“It would be nice if it was sunny but that’s something that will be
out of our control so we’ll just have to make the best of it.”

Ms O’Bryan
said they were looking forward to the official opening, which will be led by
Swan Hill Rural City Council deputy mayor Greg Cruickshank, after a nine week long construction process.

The multi-level aquatic play area, imported
from Canada, incorporates
three water slides, an 8.5 metre “super splash tipping bucket” which spills over
every two minutes, spray cannons, interactive ground sprays, and play equipment.

“We wanted to do it for a long time but it was too expensive, in the end we
just decided to bite the bullet and do it,” Ms O’Bryan said.

“We wanted to
provide more entertainment for our guests and the kids in Swan
Hill.”

Ten-year-old Max Le Fevre, who is on holiday from Melbourne, was
having a ball testing the equipment prior to the official opening.

“My
favourites were the big bucket and slides,” he said.

“We got nice and wet.”

An entry fee of $15 per person for two hours will be charged for users who
aren’t guests of the caravan park.
