Men wanted for a bit of fun, charity

THE Swan Hill man-hunt has begun.

Organisers of the inaugural ‘Man of the Town’ competition are calling for gorgeous guys, fetching fellas and buff blokes to support a worthy cause.

“It doesn’t just have to be on looks,” Starrs Art’s Paula Starrs said.

“He could be fun, outgoing, charming, funny. “We’re asking people to nominate their dad, mate or brother because most men are going to be too shy to nominate themselves.”

Entries are $10 and each nominee will be dressed up in the latest trends for a professional portrait photography session.

The photos of each man will be uploaded to Facebook for the public to view and vote for their favourite.

The man with the most votes will receive the ‘Man of the Town’ honour, along with a sash, trophy and ‘bragging rights’.

After a similar Facebook competition earlier this year involving family photos attracted 5000 votes with just six entries, Ms Starrs expected the response from men about town to be huge.

“I think we could get about 100,000 votes this time,” Ms Starrs said.

Ms Starrs said the competition was a bit of fun and all proceeds went to the Swan Hill Men’s Shed, assisting Swan Hill District Health Adult Day Services.

She added that it could be an opportunity for businesses to gain exposure by submitting a nominee.

The standard of competition is already looking strong, with ‘Weed Warrior’ Bruce Jones nominated in the first few days.

Entries close October 20, with public voting from November 1 to 10.

The winner will be announced at a special event, to be accompanied by a goods and services auction for the Men’s Shed cause.

The only pre-requisites for nominated men is they be over 18 years and available on Sunday, October 28 for their portrait shoot.

Entry forms are available from Starrs Art, 98 Chapman Street and Cruz Clothing, 115 Campbell Street, Swan Hill.
