Rice harvest finished

AFTER talking to a local truck driver, he has delivered the last load of rice for Moulamein today.

Hooker and his offsiders can now tuck this year’s crop into bed and do what they have to do at the end of the season.

Mother’s Day Classic

THERE was a great roll up of around 90 participants to our first Mother’s Day Classic run or walk depending on your mood.

This event can only get bigger and it is for a great cause.

There was a good amount of money raised but they are still doing the figures at the time of writing.

It got under my radar this year and I forgot to put it in my notes. Next year, I will be all over it.

Road crash rescue training

IT is that time of the year again where we call for donations of cars for our training.

If you want to cash it in at the recycle centre, they are still worth the same amount after we cut it up, or we can just load a different car onto your trailer to cash it in.

I know last time we got offered cars that we did not pick up. We were that overwhelmed by your generosity that we could not get them all.

If you have got one in your backyard give us a ring. It could help save someone’s life.

Barham Road Crash Rescue also need cars to practice on. We can come out and pick them up to make it easier.

For Moulamein pick up or drop off, ring Gary on 0427823572 or Alan on 0422907090.

For Barham pick up or drop off, please ring Andrew on 0427080262.

Your generous donation could save someone’s life. Maybe yours.

Moulamein Bowls Committee AGM

THE Moulamein Bowls Club AGM will be held at the bowling club at 6.30pm this Friday, May 16.

All positions will be made vacant and be up for grabs.

I can only encourage all of our bowlers to turn up and help us steer our bowls in the right direction.

This is not the AGM of our bowling club, just the bowling committee.

Footy-netball at home at Murrabit

THE Mighty Swans had their first win for the season last week in our seniors.

I did not get to footy because of work commitments so I am not sure what happened in all of our other grades.

Come over this week to our Peter Jackson Oval and cheer our teams on and get a feed out of the best canteen in our league. Hope to see you there.

Sowing in full swing

EVERYWHERE you look there is dust getting stirred up in the daytime and headlights going after dark to get our winter crops in.

We were some of the fortunate ones for a change to get rain when not many others in our district did.

The moisture is disappearing fast so we need to get it in as quickly as possible.

Don’t forget about us, Huey. We would like you to visit again.

Sculpture competition

JUST another reminder that our Moulamein Galleries bi-annual Sculpture Competition is coming up quicker than you know it on Saturday, June 7.

This great event will be happening on the King’s Birthday weekend. There is over $2000 up for grabs.

There are two sections. The large section which must be able to be carried by two people and the small section which must have a base no larger than 30cm by 50cm.

The sculptures do not have to be welded but must be free standing. Any recycled material will get you into the competition.

I have one half made and several in my head that just have to be welded together. Next week I keep telling myself.

Maybe next time for some of them, as the one I was supposed to do last year and this year is using material that is more than 100 years old. I have to get it right. No second chances on that one.

Be sure to get yours done as next week can very quickly turn into last week and you will miss out.

River levels

OUR Edward has been dropping and will continue to do so.

There is about 1000 megs going past us at the moment keeping the level at around 1.3 metres.

Our Edward is not expected to improve in the near future.
