Mighty midgets still in the finals

OUR under 14 netballers are still in the finals this week.

They had a good win last week and go up against Hay at Ultima this week.

Our girls have not beaten Hay yet this year but let’s hope our mighty midgets get up this week

Good luck, girls.

I will be playing bowls at Moulamein but we will be keeping an eye on your game.

Unfortunately, our A Grade got put out by Hay this week.

Well done for getting there, girls.

Next year.

Koolamein Cup

THIS event is coming up on Saturday September 14.

This great event will start at noon with a sausage sizzle, then kick off at 12.30 with the big event.

The trophy we play for is priceless.

There has never been a value put on our trophy but both teams want it in their club rooms.

There will be a list put up on our notice board.

If you are available, please get your name up ASAP so our Wakool Waker mates know how many to round up for this great event.

Let’s all get over to our home turf and get our cup back into our bowling club where it belongs.

Storms all around us

WE came back through Deniliquin on Sunday.

The rain was so heavy we had to slow down to a crawl at times.

Almost had to pull into the Pretty Pine Pub to ride it out but we would have gotten too wet getting from the car to the pub.

Bugger.

It is a pity that we have BOM radar as we would have thought we would have been getting this downpour at home.

Unfortunately, the rain seemed to manage to dodge Moulamein again.

This is why we have irrigation to finish the season off when the good Lord cuts it off.

Batteries for fish

OUR Moulamein Men’s Shed is doing is yearly round-up of old batteries to convert to fish fingerlings for our rivers.

Apart from doing unreal red gum picnic tables and very-good-quality red gum benches and bars, in their spare time they collect batteries and turn them into fish for our local rivers.

Check your shed, check your tip.

Even check the battery in your car – if it has reached the end of its life our Moulamein Men’s Shed would love it.

You can just drop batteries off in front of our Men’s Shed in town or give Noal a ring on 0447 541 200 to have them picked up.

Our Men’s Shed crew are getting on a bit so if you have a big load putting them on a pallet would be much appreciated.

Jesus fed the hordes with bread and fish.

Our Moulamein Men’s Shed hope to supply the fish; the good Lord will have to supply the bread.

Birds through a farmer’s lens

OUR gallery girls have a local exhibition coming up in September.

Well-known district farmer Nick Mc Kindlay is well known for his love of taking unreal photos of birds.

The opening of this great flock of photos will be Friday August 31, from 4.30 pm until 7 pm at the Moulamein Art Gallery and the exhibition will stay up until the end of September.

This is a collection of bird photos taken during the course of the working day by a farmer.

I spend a bit of time in the paddock as well but what Nick captures through his lens is well above what I even see, let alone what I could record in a photo.

Nick has the knack of getting a perfect photo.

If you are a bird lover or you just want to see some expert photos, have a look at this lot.

Everyone is invited to the opening.

There will be drinks and finger food provided this afternoon.

Moulamein Working Sheep Dog Trials

UNFORTUNATELY, this years trials have had to be cancelled.

There are some national trials that have coincided with our Moulamein trials.

This would have taken a lot of our entrants out of our local event.

Let’s hope they are bigger and better next year and the national trials do not line up with ours.

River levels

THE 1000 megs only lasted a day then it dropped down again.

Our Edward is sitting around the 700 megs a day and just over a metre.

The mighty Billabong will not supply much as it is only flowing minimum amounts needed and is down to 84 megs at Bundy, the last measuring station.

I do not know what my crow-eating mates are doing for water with our rivers being so low.

No doubt they will want their water at the most inconvenient time instead of getting it now when the rivers could handle it easily.

By the time you read this cod season will be virtually over to give them a chance to breed up.
