A GROUP of teenagers assaulted and racially abused a taxi driver about 9pm on Monday May 20.
Police arrived in Beveridge Street to witness three young females yelling at two taxi drivers, and said it was alleged they were behaving in an aggressive manner.
One of the offenders reportedly spat at the victim, hitting the taxi’s driver’s side window before the victim could drive around the corner to Beveridge Street.
The offender and the group followed the victim, punching him in the chest before police arrived and separated the parties.
A 17-year-old has been identified and is being interviewed by police.
Fuel dumped
A MOTORIST who filled his diesel vehicle with unleaded petrol at a Cohuna service station dumped the contents of his fuel tank about 4.30pm on May 19.
After asking the staff if the service station had a spill kit, which they declined, the motorist removed the vehicle.s fuel tank plug, releasing the contents on the driveway.
The fuel began running towards the gutter and nearby drain with people, vehicles and heavy traffic in the vicinity.
Once the fuel was emptied, the man filled his tank with diesel before driving off without paying.
Local CFA were called in to clean up the spill and prevent it from going down the drain into town water.
Police have spoken to the driver and the investigation is ongoing.
Defibrillator stolen
A DEFIBRILLATOR was stolen from outside the Kerang Library about 11.30pm on March 19.
The offenders stayed in the area for about an hour with the machine out of its box before leaving the carpark on a scooter about 12.30am.
The machine was returned to the library by a member of the public after it was found at the Atkinson Park skate park, damaged beyond repair.
Neighbourhood House damage
THREE front-facing windows at Kerang’s Neighbourhood House have been smashed by unknown offenders.
The offenders smashed the windows by throwing apples from a box that was donated to the house.
Property damage was estimated at $4000.
Piggery burglary
A LARGE TV and various building tools were stolen from a piggery farm on the Murray Valley Highway between O’Briens Road and O’Reillys Road, Wee Wee Rup.
Offenders broke into a shed between noon on May 16 and 4.30pm on May 20, taking items from an office.
Car window smashed
A VICTIM asleep in his station wagon about 5km south of Swan Hill on the Murray Valley Highway was woken by a smashing window.
The victim observed at least six individuals in the vicinity, who he believed had thrown a rock or multiple rocks at the rear windows of the vehicle.
One of the alleged offenders was a shirtless male about 18 years old, Caucasian, of solid build and about 180cm. He was wearing red shorts.
The alleged offenders were believed to be driving a silver or white two-door Hyundai and another was driving a four-wheel drive of unknown colour, with a black bull bar and canopy on the back.
Police believe the window was smashed on the third occasion the Hyundai appeared, after revving its engine and blowing an air horn before driving off.
