RACECOURSE

ON Sunday the winners of our social bowls were Ron Wolfe, Ian Lockhart and Max Renney with +13 shots, while the runners up, with +6, were Glenn McIntosh, Helen Frame and Jim Wilcox.

Jackpot Bowls on Wednesday, June 21 was well attended with 35 players contesting in the chilly conditions.

The winners on the day, with two wins and +13 shots, were Arthur Threadgold, Max Renney and Marg Smith, while the runners up, with one win and +15 shots, were Trevor Wiseman and Ken Duthie.

This Sunday we have our Tasco Triples starting at 12.30pm, with casual dress.

We have our open day for the new season on Sunday, July 9, which will be our Taverna Funerals any-combinations triples.

On Friday, June 30, we have our monthly dinner, double members’ draw and raffles, with names to be on the board for the meal by Wednesday, June 28.


LAKE BOGA

IN the Pelican Jackpot last Saturday 52 players enjoyed the greens in perfect conditions for winter bowls, with the bonus of the jackpot sitting at $447.

The winning team, with a two-game win and the highest margin, were Kaye Roberts from Racecourse and Rex Howard from Nyah District, while the runners-up team consisted of Neil Roberts and Tony Evans from Racecourse and Peter Furnell from Murray Downs, who lost their first game, but won their second with the highest margin.

The team of Cecilia McCaig from Murray Downs and Sally Meehan and Grant Davies from Lake Boga lost both games, with a score of minus 25, but ended up having a great day as they took home the jackpot, sharing $447 between them.

The jackpot this Saturday will start at $90.

Social bowls on Wednesday was won by ‘Bones’ Smith and Terry Haw, with a two-game win and +30 for the day, while in second place was Les Grey and Ray Leach, who also won two games but with plus 17.
