THE Edward River is rising at over 1.6 metres and almost 1500 megalitres a day.
This will be great for the influx of visitors to our district over Easter.
But it will be only short-lived and the Edward River will go to rock bottom just after Easter.
If there are any Murray cod left in our rivers that are hungry enough to take a bait, this weekend is the best chance you will have to get one.
Yabbies are still on the bite in our rivers. So if you cannot get a feed of native fish, put that rotten stinking carp that you caught into a drop net and get a feed. Remember, opera house nets are now illegal in NSW.
Free breast screening
THIS great service will be coming to Moulamein from Monday, May 15 until Friday, May 19.
Women aged 50-75 are encouraged to attend. If you are under 50, consult your GP as the results are not as accurate.
Be sure to book in, as appointments will go fast. To book, call 132 080.
This is a free service and no referral is necessary.
Free skate workshop
THIS is not happening in Moulamein, rather just up the road in Barham at their skate park from 2pm until 4.30pm on Tuesday, April 25.
For those Moulamein kids aged between 12 and 17 years that would like to go, there will be transport available from Moulamein to Barham for this free event.
Call Lee Arna on 0428 136 219 for more information or to book. Spots are limited so book in early.
Confest back in town
KOMBI vans will be all the go as our mates from the Confest come back into town after a three-year break because of COVID.
Just a reminder to anyone coming to our town or travelling through, there will be a big police presence as well as a sniffer dog or two to keep our mates from the Confest honest.
The Confest is great for our town and district and 90 per cent of our mates out there do not bring their crap into the camp.
But there are always some that do, like in every community.
Do not be the one that gets caught this weekend.
Unless the sniffer dogs can smell an unopened beer can on the back of my ute or the blood pressure tablets that are in my system, I think I am pretty safe.
I am sure our police friends also have breathalysers in their car. Just do not do it this weekend, or any weekend. It’s not worth it.
Rice harvest begins
THERE are a couple of early birds that have put their headers into their crops.
After Easter, look out, it will be full on with the great weather we are having.
Preschool yabby races
THE Moulamein Preschool will be holding their Easter Yabby races on Saturday, from 9am until 1pm.
Get your nets in. There are plenty of yabbies around this year so you could get a winner.
There will also be the egg throw, egg and spoon races, egg decorating, jumping castle, showbags, lotto jars, barbecue, cake stall, snow cones, market stalls, raffles, vintage cars, fire brigade demonstrations and plenty more.
All of this will be followed by the Moulamein Angling Club duck race.
If you would like to be part of this, the preschool is looking for supporters.
Easter fishing competition
THIS is the big one for the year for the Moulamein Angling Club.
As always, it will be held on Easter Sunday. You can sign up over the Edward opposite our wharf in town.
It will cost $5 for adults and $3 for children. You get a barbecue lunch for that as well.
There are always plenty of prizes as well as plenty of fun and Easter eggs for the kids on the day.
