MURRAY DOWNS LADIES

CAMERON’S Fine Jewellers have been long-time sponsors of women’s golf at the Murray Downs Golf & Country Club and on Wednesday 28 pairs contested the annual Gold Links aggregate par four-ball event.

Jenny Lynas has introduced her daughter Tamika Hogan to the addictive game and they combined to post a score of one up to take out first prize.

Second placegetters were Marg Moore and Colleen Roberts on one down, to finish ahead of Kathy Parkinson and Naomi Domaille on countback.

Jenny Lynas, Kathy Parkinson, Claris Bourne and Naomi Parkinson were the nearest-the-pin winners.

The threat of rain reduced Saturday’s field, with Sarah Clark (20), on 34 points, claiming victory ahead of Jenice Krahnert (29) on 33, while Kerry Gammon (31) and Dione Heppell (11) also posted scores of 33 points.

The event set down for next week is a yellow-themed day, with participants asked to wear yellow as a nod to Daffodil Day as proceeds will be donated to a local charity.

Players will compete from the yellow tees, which have historically been part of the men’s events.

Handicaps will be adjusted accordingly as this is a longer iteration of the course.
