Time to talk about taming Black Dog

Mate helping Mate

THIS is a mob that I have got mixed up with that is making podcasts about depression. Especially for farmers who have either been bitten by the Black Dog or think the Black Dog may be sneaking up on them or one of their neighbours or mates.

These podcasts are being produced to help farmers and others to recognise the dreaded Black Dog.

To have a listen, go to www.matehelpingmate.org.au. They are up to episode five now and if you listen closely, you may hear some of my words of advice.

I never got bitten by the Black Dog as I kept an eye on him and got off the farm sometimes with other interests.

Some of my mates have been bitten by the Black Dog and if you think you may have a problem, talk to someone, anyone that may be able to help you.

As much as you fellers will not go there, your family doctor is a good starting point if you cannot talk about it to your family or mates. We are not supermen. It can get the best of us.

Men’s Shed open day

THE Moulamein Men’s Shed will be having their open day tomorrow at 11am.

Come in and check out the sausage sizzle and see what this mob get up to.

They specialise in wood and can whip you up a red gum table in no time. There is also plenty of other stuff going on.

Our Moulamein Men’s Shed is always looking for new members, so come in and say g’day. Everyone will be made welcome. Pretty well all of the funds raised goes into restocking our local rivers and streams.

P&C woodcut

SAVE the date: Saturday, July 2. There is no footy that weekend so it would be a good time to help our Moulamein P&C make a few bucks.

Football-netball away this week

AFTER a week off, we go to Wandella this week. Everyone should be keen to cheer on the Mighty Swans after a week off.

Let’s hope this cold weather has not taken its toll on too many of our players.

Our commodity auction is coming up on June 25 after we play Murrabit at home.

Good time to empty your piggy banks and come in for a bargain.

River levels

THE Edward at Moulamein has continued to rise this week. Our Edward is now at almost 3200 megalitres a day and almost 2.7 metres.

Our mighty Billabong has plenty of water on the way with over 2000 megs at the top and still rising.

Fish seemed to be quiet on our long weekend.

I do not know if that was because they were off the bite or because it too bloody cold to go out and try.
