Swans look to keep unbeaten record intact

The Swan Hill men’s team can take a major step towards guaranteeing themselves top spot on the Bendigo Amateur Soccer League Division 2 ladder with victory over the Deniliquin Wanderers on Sunday.

The Swans find themselves four points clear on top with three games just four games remaining before finals in Division 2 competition. With three points on offer for each win, victory would see them sit seven points clear on top of the table with an almost unassailable advantage.

Sunday’s game against the Wanderers will be far from a walk in the park, however, with their round three encounter at the Ken Harrison Reserve resulting in a 3-0 win to the home side. That result was born about through a 10-minute period early in the second half, when Conner Brown, Cooper Fox and Santhosh Gunasekaran all scoring to blow the game open.

The remainder of the match was a hard-fought affair however – and more of the same can be expected this weekend when Deniliquin have the home field advantage.

The Swan Hill boys under 16s team will also be in action this weekend following the league wide Queen’s Birthday bye last weekend. The team will travel to the Epsom-Huntly Recreation Reserve to face Castlemaine Goldfields Green. The young Swans will be looking to follow on from their 5-2 win over Spring Gully Rovers a fortnight ago.
