THE McCallum Street memorial water fountain is finally flowing again after being left high and dry for more than a decade.
Swan Hill Council last week turned on the fountain, between Campbell and Beveridge streets, while also removing old vegetation.
Parks and Gardens co-ordinator Conor McCreesh said the fountain would remain on every day, but timed to turn off each night.
Mr McCreesh said new vegetation would be planted to give it a fresh look.
“We will be picking a few plants from cordyline banksii, nandina domestica, westringia fruitcosa, buxux microphylla and hebe,” he said.
“We will also be installing fresh mulch as well as a new dripper line.”
“We have selected these plants because we feel they will reflect the Mallee region’s vibrant variety of colours and its breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.
“We will also be reinstating the rock feature around the fountain to bring it back to its original condition.”
Mr McCreesh said 10 staff were involved with the planning and works.
