Tooleybuc students welcome back club activities

TOOLEYBUC Central School is making the most of the return to classroom learning, moving to reinstate cub activities for its students.

Principal Louisa Frost is excited to have students and staff back on site after a disrupted couple of years that have meant that students’ education has been disrupted and uncertain.

“Its fantastic to be back and know that everyone can be back here learning,” she said.

“Everyone knows that the best learning often takes place in face to face learning.”

“It is also great to be able to see people and see a smile on a real person’s face.”

The school has more than 120 students, from Foundation through to Year 12.

It has many opportunities to learn in different settings, including a commercial kitchen that is used regularly by the hospitality class to cook up some amazing treats.

During the week, the class had a cafe open and Ms Frost said that it was so good to see the whole school support the event and their fellow schoolmates.

“The students were excited to line up and have their various slushies, smoothies and milkshakes,” she said.

“Most of the school participated and there was a real buzz at lunchtime.”

Ms Frost said it was so good to see everyone mixing together again, after having to be secluded for so long to follow COVID restrictions.

“It is great that with the COVID rules relaxing that everyone is able to mingle again,” she said.

“It is good to see that whole school participation, especially when all of our students mix really well with each other.”

The school has a technology coding club as well as an embroidery and craft club and teachers hope some older students can mentor the younger ones.

The school also has a gardening club that has been quite popular as students grow their own vegetables.

“They grow vegetables and are able to use them in their classes,” Ms Frost said.

“They grew some carrots and were able to make carrot cake.”
