Perrottet and Toole to lead NSW

DOMINIC Perrottet is the new Premier of New South Wales with Paul Toole is his Deputy Premier, after both Gladys Berejiklian and John Barilaro resigned from their leadership positions.

Mr Perrottet, from the Liberal Party, was elected Premier on Tuesday October 5, and Mr Toole from The Nationals was elected on Wednesday October 6.

“Today begins a new chapter in the story of NSW,” Mr Perrottet said upon his election by his fellow party members.

Mr Perrottet thanked his predecessor Ms Berejiklian, and acknowledged that the last week had been one of uncertainty.

“We want NSW to bounce back, stronger, safer and more successful than ever before,” he said.

“To get back to the life we love and the freedoms that we hold dear.

“As a former Treasurer, I know that a strong society needs a strong economy.

“That’s why our first priority will be to continue the plan we have started – keeping people safe, opening up the economy and securing our recovery.”

Mr Toole is the former Minister for Regional Transport and Roads and said he would fight for what was important in regional communities.
