Skipper’s success

NYAH District Cricket Club A-grade captain Joel Walsh will lead his side into a second consecutive one-day grand final on Saturday with hopes of reversing the result.

In his second year as skipper, Walsh has last season’s two-day premiership to his name and is on their way to defending it again this season.

Walsh is also leading by example on the pitch, leading run scoring in the competition and sitting equal eight for wickets taken.

But it’s not just the sport of cricket he’s excelling in, being named co-captain of the Nyah Nyah West Football Club after taking out the club’s 2019 best and fairest award.

I think some of the interest has declined because of the demands of football nowadays with pre-season training starting earlier and people are looking to have a couple months off instead of getting straight into cricket.
