Facilities up to scratch for revolutionary bid

THE announcement of potential venues to host events as part ‘The Greater Victoria’ 2030 Commonwealth Games proposal had one notable omission – Swan Hill.

The proposal suggests that venues be centralised around Shepparton, approximately 200 kilometres south-east of Swan Hill, with places like Bendigo and Ballarat featuring heavily in suggested venues.

However, boasting top-class facilities along a beautiful stretch of the Murray River, Swan Hill has the potential to play host to some of the Commonwealth’s best athletes.

Lake Boga Yacht Club Secretary Garry Johnstone says the lake would be more than capable of hosting the sailing.

“As far as inland, country sailing facilities go, our set-up would be one of the best.”
