SEMI-FINAL action got under way in the Swan Hill and District Cricket Association’s Under 17 competition at the weekend, with sides vying for their place in the big dance.
Swan Hill and St Mary’s Tyntynder went head to head on the first day of their two-day semi-final on Saturday at Woorinen Recreation Reserve, with the Swans taking a 17-run lead after the fi rst innings.
At the crease, opener Lachlan Edwards calmly belted 35* runs not out for his side, a dominant display to get Swan Hill on the front foot.
Across the 20 overs, the other batsmen made cameos as they tried to set up a solid anchor for Edwards.
The Swans would eventually end their 20 over innings on 2-62 — 13 extras assisting their total.
The Bulldogs headed to the middle with opener Marcus Mangiameli run out for 14 runs.
Number two Dom Gallo made 5 runs, while Liam Bell hit 16* runs, adding to Frank Violi’s 3*.
At the conclusion of their innings, the Bulldogs had 2-45. Meanwhile, the Northern Razorbacks have taken a 22-run lead against RSL at Gurnett Oval in Swan Hill.
An enormous 45* runs from Nic Ralph got the Razorbacks going toward their eventual 1-95 total.
RSL’s Tom McGregor responded by scoring 39 runs of his own as they ended their 20 overs 1-73.
