The conversation around family violence and respectful relationships should be had at the dinner table and inside the classroom beyond a 16-day campaign to stop violence against women, experts say.
The two-week Victoria Against Violence campaign that ended on Saturday which coincided with International Human Rights Day – followed a successful White Ribbon Day, when the Victorian government announced that the Mallee would be one of the first regions to receive a new safety hub.
The new hub was part of recommendations from a Royal Commission into family violence.
The safety hub will ensure victims of family violence have better access to support services.
Mallee Family Care chief executive Teresa Jayter welcomed the announcement, saying a centralised safety hub will make it easier for people to receive help.
