Tree auction night proves a success

The Swan Hill’s Neighbourhood House’s Forest of Christmas Trees event has wrapped up for another year, proving once again how Swan Hill can band together to bring some much needed festive spirit to the community.

On Thursday evening, Stradbroke Hall was host to almost 100 wire Christmas trees decorated with wrapping paper, fairy lights, lollies, gift vouchers and toys as they were auctioned off to raise money for the Neighbourhood House and Woorinen Football and Netball Club.

Swan Hill Neighbourhood House co-ordinator Lea Johnson said it was a very successful fundraising night.

“We had a really great crowd who helped us raise a record amount of money through the auction,” she said.

“We don’t know the exact amount quite yet but we do know that it was more than we have before.

“The most expensive tree was auctioned off for $160 and was decorated by one of the classes from Swan Hill Primary School. They decorated it with gift vouchers.”

Ms Johnson said the money raised from the auction would go towards Neighbourhood House while sponsorship proceeds would go to the Woorinen club.

“The club should be getting a lot of money because they did really well with getting sponsors,” Ms Johnson said.

“They may have raised up to $2000 through the event.”
