Memories by the lake

Ex-students from all around Australia came to Lake Boga last week to celebrate the Lake Boga Primary School 40 year reunion.

Over 30 ex-students and their families attended the event that was held over two packed days (November 25 and 26).

Joining them were ex-teachers, including Miss O’Conner (Marg Smith), and the school’s ex-headmaster, Mr Holcombe.

Children of former teacher Mrs Marjorie Casey, Stephen Casey and Jan Notting (née Casey), also attended the event where a plaque and tree were planted in honour of their mother.

Mrs Casey was a much beloved teacher and taught at the school from 1969 until when she passed away in 1980.

Reunion coordinator Tracey Lowe said it was a great opportunity for everyone to take a trip down memory lane.

“Some people had not seen each other in over 30 years,” she said.

“A really fun night was had by all and everyone really enjoyed the celebrations.”

The reunion started on Friday November 25 with a welcome ceremony for 1976 graduates, followed by guided tours of the school’s new facilities and the unveiling of Mrs Casey’s memorial plaque and tree planting.
