Tears rolled down the faces of residents on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month on Friday.
Community representatives, leaders and the public gathered at the Cenotaph in Swan Hill to remember those who had paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
More than 100 people turned out for the Remembrance Day service with The Last Post eerily ringing out marking respect for the fallen and end of war.
Wreaths and poppies were respectfully laid by the young and old, in a sign the country would never forget the men and women who fought for Australia (and New Zealand).
After the service, RSL Swan Hill Sub-branch president Barry Townley was happy to see so many faces turn out.
“We had a good turnout and it is good to see the schools so involved with this day,” he told The Guardian.
“It gives us great opportunity to reflect on the people who have served and given their lives for the country and it helps us reflect on those war times.
