With a new coach at the helm, some may have doubted Ultima’s ability to qualify for another grand final in their quest for three flags.
But new mentor Jack O’Rourke has come in with a host of experience and has helped his side to a shot at achieving that impressive feat.
The 31-year-old, who was lucky to get on the field after snapping his achilles tendon last year, came to the Golden Rivers club to discover its famed winning culture.
The former Tooleybuc Manangatang player has had a year to remember but said his side was not a completely dominant force despite having won the past two flags.
The Roos are grand finalists in every grade except reserves and seniors player-coach O’Rourke said he was still excited and nervous about tomorrow’s match at Murrabit.
“I have really enjoyed the jump over, it is a different league and culture at the club,” he told The Guardian.
