THREE locals are hoping to make a difference for prostate cancer and depression by donning their running shoes and taking to the streets of Melbourne next month.
Sisters Jade and Nicole Featherby and Nicole’s boyfriend Matt Lanigan will participate in Run Melbourne on July 24, a fitness event at which every participant selects a charity to fundraise for.
The trio, who all play for Tyntynder Football Netball Club, are working towards a combined goal amount of $4200 to be donated to mental health support service beyondblue and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne.
They said support from their club and the wider community had been invaluable.
Tyntynder players rallied together to donate $800 and with one month to go before the event $3324.86 has been raised.
Jade said her decision to run for the Peter MacCallum centre was an easy one to make.
“Dad has prostate cancer and I wanted to raise awareness,” she said.
