ONE of the most impressive local streaks has continued after golfer Ross Kenyon was announced as the 2015 Murray Downs Golf and Country Club Golfer of the Year.
The humble Swan Hill man first took out the prize in 2000 and has gone on to win 15 gongs, dropping the award once to Ross Hastings in 2003.
When his name was again called out this year, the streak extended to 11 years, making it one of the best winning streaks in the history of sport in the area.
Despite all the accolades, Kenyon said it was a great feeling to take out the title yet again.
“The club is part of my life and to win anything from the club is a great thing,” he said.
“I have won 15 titles now, I was stopped once but that is the way it goes … it is only the best for consistency as far as the award is concerned.
“It is not the best quality golfer, that is what the Club Championships are, this is part of consistency and turning up every Saturday as well.
“I am honoured about the awards, that is for sure. I am down the middle, I am not long, I am consistent enough to win these awards. It is something that just comes to me, that is the way it is you know?”
The champion golfer first picked up a golf club in Ultima when he was just 16-years-old, 54 years ago.
