Green thumbs get busy on National Tree Day

LOCAL green thumbs were among those across the country who helped plant an estimated 1.2 million trees on Sunday.

Planet Ark’s National Tree Day has been held for the past 20 years, and is aimed at getting communities together to connect and care for their local environment.

St Mary Mackillop College students, staff and family members got their hands dirty at Chisholm Reserve on Sunday, planting a whopping 400 natives.

The plants were paid for by local businesses.
