LAST summer’s Country Week tournament at Swan Hill has been recognised as the state’s premier tennis event.
The carnival, which sees the Swan Hill Lawn Tennis Club prepare grass courts on the reserve at Ken Harrison Sporting Complex to complement the permanent courts, was awarded Most Outstanding Tournament at Tennis Victoria’s annual awards night in Melbourne last week.
Against all other Victorian tournaments, Swan Hill Country Week was considered the best organised and managed tournament.
Tennis Victoria has also announced Swan Hill as being in the “Top 50 Clubs” for the 2014/2015 season, based on the number of players registered.
Swan Hill was ranked 18th in the state — including metropolitan clubs — for memberships.
This is an improvement from 42 the previous season.
