Council cans River Oaks subdivide

A PROPOSED subdivision in the River Oaks Estate will not go ahead following a decision from Swan Hill Rural City councillors to reject the application.

Applicants will have 60 days to appeal the decision to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) and it is not yet known if they intend to do so.

The proposal would see the 4000 square metre block at 4 River Oaks Drive divided in half.

The existing house would form one lot, while the new block would be vacant, except for a shed to the north.

After receiving one objection in the public notification stage, the application went before council last week.

The report outlined the subdivided blocks would be an appropriate size and would not affect the character of the area, with a recommendation for councillors to approve the application.
