Weekend of excitement

THE three biggest days of the year are expected to attract more than 8000 people to Swan Hill Racecourse across this weekend.

The annual Murray Downs Golf and Country Club Swan Hill June Racing Carnival kicks off today.

Running until Sunday, the three days will offer entertainment for all ages with the first ever junior fashion parade organised by Mint Soda.

From live entertainment to food and racing there will be plenty on offer for patrons.

Those attending today’s event will see an eight-race program including the $100,000 Pooles Accountants Golden Topaz and the Vobis Gold Betfair Classic which will carry up to $160,000 in prize money.

Tomorrow will be the Swan Hill Bus Lines Family Fun Day with family friendly entertainment lined up for the children all day.

There will be a jumping castle, a rocking climbing wall and much more.

The first running of a Junior Fashions on the Field event will also be held.

Sunday is known to be the biggest day of the carnival which will feature a nine-race program including the $100,000 Murray Downs Swan Hill Cup.

Last year, the day drew in 4800 patrons, this year the club hopes to reach over the 5000 attendance mark.

Fashions on the Field will be held during the afternoon to find our most stylish ladies and gents.

The new Community Hub Building will be officially launched at 11am by Member for Swan Hill Peter Walsh.

The official ribbon cutting will be held at the entrance near the bowling greens with representation on the day from the Racecourse Bowls Club, Swan Hill Jockey Club, Swan Hill Trotting Club, Swan Hill Rural City Council and more.

With all of the recent building and upgrade works around the course, the mini-marquee horseshoe area has now been relocated to a bigger and better area ready for Murray Downs Swan Hill Cup Day.

Within the new area, the club will include betting facilities, a bar and barbecues for patrons to use, big screen viewing and toilets.

Simply sit back and be entertained by the horses as they parade in the mounting yard right in front of this brilliant new location with trackside viewing.

These huge three days of racing offer more than $750,000 in prizemoney attracting trainers and owners far and wide to the Swan Hill Region.
