A NEW era started for the Central Murray schoolboys’ squad this week.
With Jamie Macri now firmly entrenched in his role as the Central Murray’s regional development manager, his 13 years as schoolboys coach have officially come to an end.
Taking place at the first training session of the summer at Kerang on Wednesday night was revered local coach Wes Lewis.
Russell Jarrett is in charge of the Echuca squad, while Caile Ditterich and Dean Bennett are in charge of the Swan Hill squad.
Training sessions will be held on Wednesday nights, with trial matches to be staged at Barham on November 10 and 17.
A training camp will be held in Barham on November 30 and December 1 with players who make the final squad to be provided with details of 2014 training dates following the two-day camp.
Macri is the program manager for the team’s tilt at the V/Line Cup.
He said the squad was rich in talent as it was most years.
“It’s a squad of 75 kids. We’ve got Paddy Dow and Brent Daniels, they’re bottom-age kids from last year and some exciting talent coming through,” Macri said.
