NO ONE in their wildest fantasy could have imagined that Balranald would match the Swan Hill side on the latter’s home turf and that is what eventuated however it took the Swans until the second half to really stamp their authority on the contest.
At the first change of ends the Swans were leading by 21 points but in around the ground play the visitors were all but matching the bigger bodied home side and hence the game was anything but a showcase of our national game.
The second term delivered more of the same but now the Swans were starting to attack the goals incessantly but alas the result was but three goals and an incredible eight behinds.
The Roos rarely ventured forward and could muster just a solitary goal for the term and they went to the long break 41 points in arrears and the match had not reached any level of skill from any individual on either side.
The third quarter saw the Swans take control now feeding off the ruck dominance of Cal Beasy and the runners in Xavier Moloney, Justin Condely, Jared Halligan and Damien Hirst.
