Ten run for St Mary’s

ST MARY’S Primary School Swan Hill will boast an incredible 10 runners in events at the state schools’ cross country next month.

School principal Paul Bissinella said the community was proud to have the highest representation at the event from any institution in the Swan Hill region.

“It’s the best result for St Mary’s at this event,” he said.

Bissinella said the students had competed at a school event, a divisional event comprising Swan Hill schools and a regional event to qualify for the state competition.

“[At the regional run] there were 80 kids per division and they had to finish in the top 10,” he said.

Annie Bissinella, Rory and Greta Sheldrick all placed in the top three of their division in qualifying for the state finals.

They will be joined by Dallas Glowry, Meg Pumpa, Amy Jobling, Tanner Lewis, Greta Ryan, Eve Crowe and Harliai Curthoys-Davies.

“Our school is very proud of them. It’s a great result for our PE program and [physical education teacher] Xavier Kennedy,” Bisinella said.
