FROM playing to junior coaching to umpiring, Woorinen’s Anthony Miliado has worn a few different hats over the years. ANDREW ROGERS reports.
WHEN Anthony Miliado thinks back on his childhood, Woorinen Football Club soon takes centre stage.
For Miliado, the son of hard-working stone fruit farmers in the tight knit district, sport was all about football and football was all about community.
“I’m originally from Woorinen and always lived out there before moving to Swan Hill,” he said.
“Dad was a diehard ((Tigers)) supporter who worked six and a half days a week and went to the footy in his spare time. That’s why I loved Woorinen so much.”
Miliado senior soon passed the passion for football on to his son, but life on the farm meant the commitment couldn’t be extended further than a winter Saturday’s afternoon.
“I wasn’t allowed to play other sports because during summer we were working on the farm and there’d be no one to take me in,” he said.
“I would have loved to have played cricket.”
