Yanga precinct closed for works

YANGA’S Homestead precinct will be closed for the next two weeks while access routes and parking to the national park are upgraded.

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) officer Silvana Keating said the roadworks, which start today, would significantly improve access and parking at the historic precinct areas of Yanga National Park.

“Importantly, these works will improve the experience of visitors to the park in the future,” she said.

“Visitors to the park are asked to follow signs and not to enter construction areas.”

The historic Yanga Woolshed, and the park itself, will still be open to visitors during the construction works.

Access to the woolshed will be available via Mamanga campground access road.

During the construction period, NPWS discovery ranger Simone Carmichael will be based at the Yanga Woolshed to answer questions from visitors throughout the day, and will conduct free tours of the woolshed at 10:30am most mornings.

NPWS has apologised for any inconvenience to visitors.
