Woorinen
Round one: Mallee Eagles at home
2012: 2nd
Coach: Nick Trenfield
The 2012 runners-up will have a slightly different feel with Nick Trenfield taking over senior coaching from Aaron Cadd who will remain at the club as a player.
Departures include controversial ex-AFL player Andrew Lovett who will ply his trade in Gippsland, and local players Jayson Turvey and Billy McInnes who will play in the Golden Rivers competition.
Netball: Woorinen’s Naomi Lewis is excited about the club’s prospects after a strong preseason.
“We had a great preseason actually, we started early-early and put some fitness under the base,” she said.
The Tigers will welcome some new and returning faces this year including Ash Donnan from Woomelang, Tayla Stanley from Tyntynder and Belinda Davies from Moulamein.
Lewis said the new players would all play a vital role for Woorinen.
“((Donnan is)) a fantastic centre court defender and will be a great fit for us, Stanley is a big inclusion for our attack and provides a focal point which we’ll definitely be requiring and Belinda Davies is really quick,” she said.
Lewis said the Tigers were upbeat for a reason.
“It comes from doing a really good preseason. There’s a good vibe and lots of young kids coming through as well,” she said.
