Honours for councillors

TWO of Swan Hill Rural City Council’s most familiar faces have recevied awards recognising long service to the Swan Hill region.

Cr John Katis was honoured with a Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) award for 15 years’ service, while Cr Greg Cruickshank was presented a Mayor Emeritus, which recognises three or more full terms as mayor.

Cr Katis has represented at local government for 16 years and will have racked up two decades by the end of the current term.

Cr Cruickshank was first elected to Swan Hill Rural City Council’s Central Ward in 2003 and spent three years as mayor, from 2009 to 2011.

In front of fellow councillors and staff the men received their awards at the MAV Annual Conference dinner in September.
