Quayle calls it quits

THE closing of election polls next month will mark the end of David Quayle’s long stint with Swan Hill Rural City Council (SHRCC).

After completing three terms with SHRCC, Cr Quayle has decided not to place his name on next month’s ballot papers.

“It’s been very busy, and very interesting,” he said of his 10 years on Council.

“We’ve achieved an enormous amount lately — it’s the busiest I’ve seen it in 20 years.”

The retired engineer said he first joined council in 2003 with a vision to do something for local youth and an agenda to improve council transparency.

He was elected mayor in his first year with the SHRCC, and held the position for two years.
