Politician at the pub

FEDERAL Member for Mallee Dr Anne Webster is set to make an appearance in Swan Hill this Tuesday night.

A “politician at the pub” talk will be held in the Commercial Hotel at 5.30pm where residents can express their concerns in a one-on-one table talk with Dr Webster.

“As a Mallee representative, it’s a good opportunity for local voices to raise council or state issues to someone who is willing to listen and offer their support,” Dr Webster said.

“Hearing from a local source is very valuable and it provides more light on how the people really feel about these issues.

“I will usually touch on grants, hot issues that are national such anti-semitism and people who are generally not happy with the status quo and offer my support”.

Dr Webster will also visit the Country University Centre Mallee.

There will be another open talk at the Quambatook General Store at 1.30pm where Dr Webster will be able to respond to queries and concerns of residents

“Unfortunately, with the untimely death of Merril Kelly, it is incredibly important to offer our support to the Quambatook community,” she said.

“There is always a very long list of local towns and regions to periodically go through when planning these visits as well as organising the trips and meetings.

“So, it is very important to us that we try and get to the communities that have been most affected by recent circumstances.”

There will be a mobile event in Robinvale earlier in the day, providing residents with access to face-to-face Centrelink and Medicare services.

Dr Webster will be attending the event and will be available to answer any community issues.
