Happy days

STAFF at Swan Hill Aquatic & Recreation Centre have celebrated the first work anniversary of one of the hardest-working and happiest employees, Kieran Foott.

Mr Foott works three days a week at the centre, cleaning the facilities with a smile on his face and greeting members with his friendly demeanour.

Mr Foott attended the centre on one of his days off this week and was joined by staff and friends to celebrate one year of employment with the team.

He said the job always kept him busy and that the team made the centre a great place to work.

“Mondays and Tuesdays are busy days,” he said.

“A lot of school groups come through, so there’s things to set up.”

Mr Foott was a member at the centre before his employment.

His employment journey was initially funded by Swan Hill’s Axis Employment.

But now Mr Foott has become a permanent member of the SHARC team,

Centre manager Karla Barnes said Mr Foott’s contribution had been a big part of the centre’s move to its new gym.

“Our members absolutely love Kieran, and so do our staff,” she said.

“Kieran is a big part of the team and the family here. We love hearing about his bowls stories from the weekend and about the football when the Bombers have a win.

“Kieran never has to be told to do anything, he jumps into action and gets things done here all the time.

“He’s always working ahead and surprising us with the work he’s done in advance.

“Kieran was such an amazing help when we were moving to our new gym, he was great when it came to shifting everything.

“Everyone here knows Kieran, and I think Kieran knows everyone that comes through. He’s always up for a chat.”
