I DO not know if I have read this right, but from what I can gather, our Murray River Council has secured a grant of more than $270,000 to upgrade the facilities at Moulamein Lake.
I know our lake committee applied for about $100,000 to upgrade our great lake, but this extra money will make a hell of a difference to what we have up there.
Thank you to Paul and his offsider Chloe for going to the trouble of applying for the grant and a big thank you to council for topping it up if I have read this right.
Pre-school yabby races
MOULAMEIN Pre-School will be holding their Easter yabby races on Saturday, April 8, from 9am until 1pm.
Get your nets in – there are plenty of yabbies around this year so you could get a winner.
There will also be the egg throw, egg and spoon races, egg decorating, jumping castle, showbags, lotto jars barbecue, cake stall, snow cones, market stalls, raffles, vintage cars, fire brigade demonstrations and plenty more.
All of this will be followed by the Moulamein Angling Club’s duck race.
If you would like to be part of this, the pre-school is looking for supporters.
They have some great supporters’ packages out. No donation is too big or too small.
For more information, call Hanna on 0472 904 724.
DPI around
THE Department of Primary Industries came through our place last Friday night and checked out a few of our shooters.
I think they all had their paperwork up to date.
Bush Sculpture Competition
OUR Moulamein Gallery mob has their bush sculpture coming up on June 10.
There is $1000 up for grabs for the large (but not too large) sculpture and $500 up for grabs for the small sculpture.
Get your scrap together and start to weld something up that looks like something.
This is just an early warning for this great event. For more details, call Joy on 0488 380 470.
Pay your membership
SOMEONE didn’t change the lock on our Moulamein Lake ramp this year. Anybody with last year’s key could get into the lake this year with last year’s key.
Somebody stuffed up due to circumstances beyond his control so we hope everybody that used our lake this year can pay their membership so everyone can still enjoy our great lake.
Back in the good old days, the lock was never changed as everybody that used our lake paid their membership without being asked.
I am sure everybody enjoyed our lake this year and if everyone that didn’t pay their membership because the lock was not changed could do so ASAP, it would be much appreciated.
Somebody could be in trouble at the next meeting if everybody that used our great lake does not pay up.
I thank everybody for being so honest and paying up, even though the lock was not changed. Someone has your name and everyone knows where you live.
Sand free station
I DID start to deliver free sand around town when I could find the time. Unfortunately, I got busy out in the paddock and our fire shed is now sand free.
Our council workers got busy getting rid of the sand. Sorry to those that I was going to deliver sand to. It didn’t happen.
A big thank you to Murray River Council for shifting those 100-odd pallets.
We will stack the pallets somewhere for future use.
River levels
OUR Edward is rising very slowly at 1.28 metres and just over 970 megalitres a day.
From now until it rains, the Edward River levels will be determined by how much water is needed for irrigation above Moulamein and below Moulamein.
